Ragin Cajun volunteers are being asked to help with a major sprucing up of Earl K. Long Gym from Aug. 4-6. Helpers will be repainting the fan area of the gym, the lobby, locker rooms and some student-athlete lounges.

This is the first major volunteer event that benefits volleyball and women’s basketball and comes weeks before the Capital One Classic Volleyball tournament.

Capital One announced its support of the volunteer day and is signing up bank employees to assist. “We’re happy to champion the cause of supporting Ragin’ Cajun women’s sports,” said Janet Wood with Capital One. “As a sponsor of the volleyball tournament, it makes sense to rally and make Earl K. Long Gym shine.”

Volunteers are being asked to call coach Amy Kraljev to coordinate times. “Our student-athletes appreciate the community’s support, whether it’s two hours of help, six hours or all weekend,” said Kraljev.

Work will begin on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and continue Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Food and soft drinks will be provided. Call 482-6327 to volunteer.
