LYNETRIA JOHNSON 2006 HOMECOMING QUEEN AT UL LAFAYETTE
 
2006 Homecoming courtLynetria Ranell Johnson, 2006 Homecoming Queen for UL Lafayette, and her court will reign over Homecoming activities when the Ragin' Cajuns take on Middle Tennessee, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.

Johnson, the daughter of Lillie Rodgers of Baton Rouge, was nominated by the National Pan-Hellenic Council to receive this honor. She is a senior majoring in broadcasting with a minor in hospitality management.

She is a member at-large of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and volunteers her time with Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Acadiana. Recently, she was chosen as a standout volunteer by the Daily Advertiser.

Maids of the court are Allie Crawford, Brittany Claire DuBois, Kimberly Rivers Lyles and Aimee Elizabeth Rachal.

Crawford, a senior majoring in public relations, was nominated by the Inter Fraternity Council. She is the daughter of Margaret Hand of Ville Platte and Stan Crawford of Houston.

She is vice president for the National Pan-Hellenic Council and president of Rho Lambda Honor Society. Crawford is also involved with the Order of Omega Honor Society, Sigma Gamma Mu Communications Honor Society and the UL Lafayette Honor's program.

DuBois, a junior majoring in early childhood education, was nominated by the University Program Council Spirit Committee. She is the daughter of Gregory and Vickie DuBois of New Iberia.

She currently serves UPC as its president and has been a Traditions chair as well as a member of the Spirit, Traditions, Events and African American Culture committees. DuBois was a member of the Student Orientation Staff, UL Lafayette Triathlon Club, Sports Medicine Association and is a head lifeguard at the UL Lafayette Aquatic Center.

Lyles, a senior majoring in dietetics, was nominated by Kappa Delta Sorority. She is the daughter of Claudia and Ted Lyles of Shreveport. Her father is a former USL basketball player.

As a UL athlete, Lyles was the captain of the UL Lafayette women's tennis team. Within Kappa Delta she has held the positions of Junior Class President, Senior Class President, KD Peppers Spirit leader, Corresponding Secretary and served on the Standards Board to name a few. She is a member of the Association of Future Alumni and previously served as a Ragin' Pepper.

When not involved with university activities or athletics, Lyles volunteers her time within the community with the Girl Scouts of America, St. Joseph's Diner, Prevent Child Abuse America and many other organizations.

Rachel, a senior majoring in chemical engineering, was nominated by the Blue Key Honor Society. She is the daughter of Paul and Catherine Rachal of New Roads.

She currently serves as chief justice for the Student Government Association Judicial Branch. She is also vice president of the Blue Key Honor Society, secretary for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and secretary for Tau Beta Phi Engineering Honor Society.

Rachal is also a member of Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society, National Association of Corrosion Engineers, Newman Club, Up Til' Dawn, Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Kappa Phi. She was chosen to be included in Who's Who Among American College Students.

Nominees for the Homecoming Court are submitted by campus organizations. The court is chosen by the senior football players after being interviewed by student leaders.
