|ADDITIONAL RAGIN’ CAJUNS BASEBALL GAME = FREE ADMISSION
| How about a little Lagniappe after Mardi Gras, courtesy the Ragin’ Cajuns. Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns announced an additional game to the 2009 baseball ticket package that was not on the original schedule, and as a result, the game this Wednesday against Texas-Southern will be free. Beginning at 5 p.m., this game will be free to the public on a first-come, first-serve general admission basis.
“In these tough economic times, we are pleased to offer a free evening of baseball,” said athletics director David Walker. “The Cajuns invite everyone out to Moore Field for a fun and free night of family entertainment.”
The initial schedule, released in December, contained 54 games, two games short of the NCAA-maximum 56-game season.
The Cajuns had a full schedule on the books for months until a last minute cancellation of a home-and-home series suddenly left UL Lafayette short. With little time to add two games prior to the season, the Cajuns proceeded with season ticket orders for 25 home contests.
“We lost two games due to extenuating circumstances very late in the scheduling process,”Walker added. “Coach Robichaux and his staff did a great job to find another game.”
The gates at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field will open at 4 p.m. The Cajuns and Tigers have not met since 2004, a 13-0 victory by the hosts in Lafayette. UL Lafayette owns an 11-0 record all-time against TSU.
