“Jazz Twensdays,” a series of concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, will kickoff March 31 with the Faculty Jazz and Chamber Wind groups.

The Jazz group will play a mix of styles from the 1940s to present with Bob Luckey on sax, Paul Morton on trumpet, Jeff George on guitar, Troy Breaux on drums, Garth Alper on piano and Bob Nash on bass.

This event is part of the College of the Arts Festival of the Arts. Tickets are $10 and the performance will be held in Fletcher Hall auditorium.

Other concerts in the series include:

• April 1 – members of the Jazz Piano Guild will perform a free concert of solo and duo arrangements of originals and jazz standards in Angelle Hall, room 153. The group is a new organization open to students and community musicians.

• April 7 and 8 – Combo 2 directed by Paul Morton and Combo 3 directed by Robert Willey will present an evening of small group jazz improvisation at Fletcher Hall. Combo 3 will incorporate live electronics and beats to lend a contemporary sound to their performance. Admission is $5.

• April 21 – the Jazz Ensemble, under the director of William Hochkeppel, will present a variety of new and updated classics from the libraries of Woody Herman, Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson. The Ensemble is an 18-member band. This is a free concert.
