November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). To celebrate creative writing, Dupré Library will host a write-in at the Ernest J. Gaines Center each Tuesday in November from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. The Gaines Center will be open to all writers as a supportive environment where they can work on their novels. Power outlets will be available for laptops. Coffee and snacks will be provided. Everyone in the area is welcome to attend.

The goal of NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30 and then upload the novel for word-count validation to the NaNoWriMo website (www.nanowrimo.org) between Nov. 25 and Nov. 30. Participants should register at the NaNoWriMo website.

No plot? No problem. Just sit down every extra minute you have in November and write. Your major accomplishment will be creating a novel in 30 days. Don’t worry about editing and revision until after Nov. 30.

For more information about the write-in at Dupré Library contact librarian April Grey at 482-6197 or aprilgrey@louisiana.edu.
