Employee resources, new tool to help campus cope

Our thoughts and prayers are with all members of our University family who have suffered losses during historic rainfall over the past few days.

A list of resources has been compiled that may be helpful to anyone who’s dealing with the aftermath.

Also, the University has implemented an employee check-in procedure that will enable Human Resources to collect information after emergencies – such as flooding – that can be provided to supervisors. This new feature will help the University assess the impact of a widespread crisis on its employees. Please go to the Human Resources website to report your status.

Flooding throughout Acadiana has pushed freshman move-in until Wednesday. Thanks to everyone who has helped us adapt to the weather conditions. We will do our best to ensure that our freshmen have a positive introduction to campus life, despite the delay.

The University is scheduled to reopen fully tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.

As a result of this weekend’s flooding, any employee who was scheduled and not able to report to work or work their full shift, won’t be required to use annual, compensatory time, or unpaid leave for Friday, Aug. 12, and Monday, Aug. 15. Employees should report hours worked on these days as compensatory time. Please consult with Human Resources on the handling of time for any employees who continue to be unable to report to work due to the storm.

Acadiana residents always rise above disasters by helping each other. It’s one of the characteristics that makes our region – and our University – so special. We will get through this latest crisis together.

Sincerely,
Dr. E. Joseph Savoie
